"Days of Our Lives" celebrates its 10,000th episode on Monday, February 21, 2005. Original cast member Frances Reid (Alice) will open and close the show to camera. The actress, who appeared in the very first episode of the daytime drama, will thank viewers for watching. In addition, executive producer Ken Corday, the son of the late Ted and Betty Corday, the creators of "Days of Our Lives", will appear as Judge Shay at Billie Reed's arraignment. Corday's character has the same last name as his mother. Betty Corday's maiden name was Shay. Corday last appeared on "Days" in 1978 as the character of Ken.
