CARR CAST AS BILL HORTON

Paul Carr has been cast as Bill Horton, the son of Tom and Alice Horton, and brother of Mickey, Addy, Marie and the late Dan Horton. Carr will make his first appearance on December 22. Two other front-runners for the part were actors Edward Mallory (whose busy with Ted Corday's other daytime series "Morning Star") and Frank Parker (who is appearing in the daytime series "Never Too Young"). Perhaps these two actors might find their way to Salem someday in the future.
PAGING DR. LAURA

A casting call has went out for the role of Laura Spencer, a pre-med student. The role is contract and will begin taping in June 1966. No word yet on who Laura will be involved with, but with only a few eligible bachelors on the canvas, she will most likely be involved with either of the Horton brothers, Mickey or Bill.
Whose picture will go here when Laura Spencer is cast? Only time will tell!

AS OCTOBER ENDS, FILMING BEGINS...IN COLOR!

On Friday, October 29, "Days of Our Lives" taped its pilot episode. To the left is the NBC color logo. "Days" becomes the first-ever soap opera to premiere in color! Those of you with color television sets can watch all the action, as NBC says, "in living color." For the rest of us, we'll have to do with our black-and-white TVs at the moment. It seems color television is here to stick around for good. Best of luck to the cast and crew on a long-run. With fifteen other soap operas on the daytime schedule, it might be tough at first to build a fan base, but hopefully the show will catch on with viewers, and perhaps in five years, "Days" can celebrate its fifth anniversary on the air in 1970.
TWO KEY PARTS RECAST

"Days of Our Lives" taped its original pilot in July, but, as seen above, they have reshot their pilot on October 29. Two contract parts were recast: Mary Jackson, who would have played the female lead as Macdonald Carey's wife, Alice Horton, has been replaced by Frances Reid. Reid is no stranger to daytime, having had the title role eleven years ago in "Portia Faces Life" in 1954 and a more recent stint on "As the World Turns." Also, Ron Husmann has been replaced in the role of Tony Merritt by actor/director Dick Colla. Best of luck to the two newcomers to the "Days" family and good luck to Ms. Jackson and Mr. Husmann on their future projects.
