Here is an exclusive sneak peek at some of Salem's upcoming moments over the next few months.
At left, Macdonald Carey (Tom) is featured in his first-ever publicity shot for "Days of Our Lives." At right is the press release accompanying his photo, which was sent to NBC affiliates in October. Note that the press release spells his character's last name wrong. It is Horton, not Norton.
This sneak preview picture is of Macdonald Carey (Tom) and Frances Reid (Alice)'s first-ever hug, set to air on November 8. Hopefully Tom and Alice will remain married for many years as their family continues to grow and grow.
In this publicity photo from the pilot episode, Charla Doherty (Julie) and "grandad" Macdonald Carey (Tom) pose for the camera. One can only hope that granddaughter Julie Olson won't cause any more trouble (as she does in the first episode) in future years to come! In the background is guest star Simone Pascal (Carol).
As seen in this NBC promotional photo, these unnamed women hope to keep the sands in the hourglass of "Days" full for many years to come. With 15 other soaps now on the air, it will take some work, but hopefully "Days" might be able to celebrate its 5th anniversary in 1970.
This harmless looking mink stole, as seen in a Bartlett's Department Store showcase, in "Days" very first scene, starts the show off running as Julie Olson steals it to impress her girlfriends.
At left, Marie Cheatham (Marie) is seen in her first publicity shot for the series. Marie is getting ready to be married both on-screen (to Tony Merritt) and in real life as well. At right, she is pictured with fiance Bill Arvin (an actor on another daytime series, "Morning Star"). Good luck to Marie on both of her marriages!
This shot of Dr. Thomas Horton's nameplate on the side of his house at 545 Sycamore Street is seen just before the doctor and his wife, Alice, make their first appearance on November 8. The Hortons are said to gather and celebrate Christmas inside this house. One hopes it can become a yearly tradition if "Days" is able to survive its first few years on the air.
Marie Cheatham (Marie) looks lovingly at Dick Colla (Tony). Their characters are set for the first-ever wedding seen in Salem later this year. Let's hope nothing goes wrong and sets a bad precedent for future weddings!
John Clarke is seen in his first publicity shot for the series. As lawyer Mickey Horton, his first-ever client on-screen will be niece Julie Olson. Julie is accused of stealing a mink stole from a department store in the pilot episode. Good luck to Mickey on his first case on TV. Perhaps he'll win many cases before he retires in the future.
The Hortons at Home: John Clarke (Mickey) and Marie Cheatham (Marie) pose with their on-screen parents Frances Reid (Alice) and Macdonald Carey (Tom) in an early publicity shot.
