CURRENT PERMANENT SETS:
"Days of Our Lives" currently has about 20 permanent sets it uses for all the action which takes place on the show. These sets are built and taken down each day in Studios 2 and 4 of the Burbank, California studios where "Days" tapes. There is also on permanent outdoor set, Salem Place which is used regularly. All other non-permanent sets, which may only be seen once or very infrequently are known as "swing" sets.
HOMES
Horton House:
Sets: The Foyer/Exterior includes the only original piece left from 1965, the Horton Front Door. There is a staircase which leads to the Bedrooms. Directly next to the foyer is the Living Room. From the living room, it leads into the Kitchen/Backyard.
Current Inhabitant: Alice.
Alice has lived here since before the show premiered in 1965.
Kiriakis Mansion:
Sets: The Foyer/Exterior is at the front of the mansion. It has a staircase which leads up to the Bedrooms/Halls. Directly next to the foyer is the Living Room. Next to the Living Room is the Pool & Guest House, as well as the rarely seen horse Stables.
Current Mansion Inhabitants: Kate, Lucas, Nicole, Brandon, Billie, Phillip, Henderson, Will, Roz.
Current Guest House Inhabitants: Sami, Austin.
Kate and Lucas moved in when she was about to marry Victor. Phillip has lived here since his birth. Billie moved in when she returned from Paris in 1996. Henderson has been the butler of the mansion since it was built in 1987. Nicole moved in when she married Lucas in 1998, and Will came along in the custody decision. Brandon moved in after Nicole's marriage to Lucas. Sami and Austin moved in to the Guest House in mid-1999. Roz is Will's nanny.
DiMera Mansion:
Sets: The Foyer/Exterior is at the front of the mansion. It has a staircase which leads up to the Master Bedroom/Hallway on the second floor. There are also doors which lead directly into the Living Room. There is also a doorway which leads to the Wine Cellar, downstairs. Directly behind the wine cellar is the Secret Room.
Current Inhabitants: Stefano, Rolf.
Stefano inherited this residence after Kristen left Salem. Rolf moved in downstairs in early 1998. This set has not been used recently as both Stefano and Rolf have been in France.
Austin's Apartment
Sets: This set mainly consists of the Apartment/Hallway, as well as the Bedroom.
Current Inhabitant: Carrie.
Austin moved in to this apartment when he arrived in Salem in 1992, and moved out in mid-1999. Carrie moved in from her apartment across the hallway and has stayed here since the divorce.
Marlena's Penthouse
Sets: The Living Room/Hallway leads right to the Elevator. There is also a Terrace and a staircase which leads to the Bedroom/Hallway.
Current Inhabitants: Marlena, John, Belle.
John bought this penthouse for Marlena in 1994. Belle has lived here mostly since her birth. John moved in earlier in 1998.
Brady House:
Sets: There is one main set in use, the Kitchen/Exterior, A staircase leads downstairs to the Brady Pub.
Current Inhabitants: Shawn, Caroline.
The Bradys have lived here since they moved to Salem in 1983.
Jonesy's Townhouse
Sets: The Foyer/Exterior leads to a second doorwat which has the Living Room.
Current Inhabitants: Vivian, Nicholas.
Jonesy's townhouse, which is owned by Stefano, was the home of Vivian until she married him. It contains most of Stefano's illegal art collection. Vivian moved back into the house with her nephew Nicholas after her divorce from Stefano in 1999.
Fancy Face II
Sets: The Fancy Face II with Pier is located in the local waterway. It is the exterior of the boat. The interior of Fancy Face II is where the living quarters are located.
Current Inhabitant: Bo.
Bo recently purchased a new boat and named it Fancy Face II, after his first boat, the Fancy Face, burned down in 1998. This set has not been used recently as Bo has been in France.
Chicago: Victor's Nursing Home Room
Sets: The nursing home has one main set: Victor's Room/Hall.
Current Inhabitant: Victor.
Victor has stayed here since his stroke in mid-1997.
France: Castle
Sets: The Castle Turret is located in the upper area. The main level has the Castle Living Room/Passageway. Greta and Eric have their own Bedroom/Halls upstairs.
Current Inhabitants: Greta, Eric, Gina, Kurt.
Kurt has kept Gina locked in the turret for many years under Stefano's orders. Greta and Eric have been staying here while in France.
France: Gina's Paris House
Sets: The Living Room/Exterior is on the first floor, with Gina's Bedroom upstairs.
Current Inhabitants: Hope as Gina, Bo.
Hope as Gina and Bo have been staying here during their stay in France.
The other Salem inhabitants have no permanent sets to call home. Abe and Lexie have their own home, as do both Craig and Nancy and Mickey and Maggie. Roman lives in his old house, which hasn't been seen in years. Eric lives in the apartment across the hall from Carrie and Austin, but which has not been seen years. It is yet to be seen where Shawn-Douglas will live.
THE WORKPLACE
Brady's Pub
Sets: The Brady Pub and Exterior consists of the Pub and a staircase leading up to the Brady House.
Workers: Shawn, Caroline, Lisa.
Shawn and Caroline own the pub, and Lisa is their main waitress.
Titan
Sets: Numerous current sets include the Main Hallway, which leads to Kate's Office, Vivian's Office and other conference rooms. The Elevator leads downstairs to the Photo Lab/Hallway. The elevator also leads upstairs to the restaurant Penthouse Grill.
Workers: Kate, Vivian, Lucas, Nicole, Nicholas, Billie, Marie, Victor.
Kate, Victor and Vivian own almost all the company. Nicholas works as Vivian's assistant. Lucas works there as an executive. Billie is the head of Countess Wilhelmina Cosmetics, a division of Titan. Nicole is the top model of the main publication, "Bella." Marie is Kate's secretary.
Police Station
Sets: The main sets in use are the main lobby of the Police Station, which connects to Abe's Office.
Workers: Abe, Roman, Bo.
Abe is the commander, Roman a captain, and Bo a policeman, who is currently still on leave.
University Hospital
Sets: The Nurses' Station and Terrace is the main set used, along with an Elevator. Craig's Office and Carrie's Office are across the hall from one another. Marlena's Office is located in another hallway.
Workers: Marlena, Carrie, Craig, Nancy, Lexie, Brandon, Belle.
Marlena is a psychiatrist. Craig is the Chief of Staff. Lexie is head of the pediatrics division. Carrie is the public relations director, and Nancy is head of the volunteers. Belle is a volunteer in the pediatrics division, where Brandon works as a counselor.
What do the other residents of Salem do? They don't have permanent workplace sets, but Mickey is a lawyer. John has a company of his own. Rolf works for Stefano as his madman scientist. Bart is Stefano's henchman. Henderson is the Kiriakis mansion butler. Roz is Will's nanny. Alice and Maggie volunteer at University Hospital. Kurt works for Stefano guarding Gina. Eric is a freelance photographer. Millionaires who do not need to work are Stefano, Greta and Gina. These people currently do not have jobs: Hope, Austin, Sami, Shawn-Douglas and Phillip.
OTHER PERMANENT SETS
Salem Place
Sets: The first and only permanent outdoor set "Days" has used is Salem Place. Java Cafe is here, the local coffee shop. As well as many stores and the Movie Theater. The Salem Place set is on the backlot of NBC's Burbank Studios.
Penthouse Grill
Sets: The Penthouse Grill has many tables available, and is on the top floor of the Titan building, accessible by the Elevator. There are also several Bathrooms on the side.
Tuscany Restaurant
Sets: Tuscany replaces Chez Vous as the other restaurant in town, with an intimate, Italian feeling to it.
Blue Note
Sets: Blue Note is the local, upscale bar in Salem.
Cheatin' Heart
Sets: Cheatin' Heart/Exterior is the bar on the outskirts of Salem, for the more rowdier type of person.
Park
Sets: The Park has several trees and benches and a warm feeling to it for all passersby.
Courtroom
Sets: The Courtroom and its main Corridor is the regular place to see all of Salem's trials.
St. Luke's Church
Sets: St. Luke's Church and its Exterior is the place where most of Salem goes to mass, usually performed by Father Lewis.
Salem Airport
Sets: Salem Airport is the place where the citizens of Salem leave the city for other destinations.
